40kV Pinhole Detector

40kV Pinhole Detector

Pinhole Detectors are powerful battery powered, portable instruments that are used to check the integrity of a wide range of non-conductive coatings and linings. Porosity, pinholes and other faults are found by applying user settable High Voltage of up to 40kV in order to detect breakdowns.

Buckman Hardy Associates were commissioned to improve the functionality and manufacturability of the client’s existing design. The project required the integration of new technology including a complete firmware rewrite, a new microprocessor and redesign of the internal hardware to fit into a new enclosure.

This work has reduced the assembly time of the instrument, replaced expensive hard to source components as well as improving documentation and reliability.
